About Us

Anthro Midwest believes in fostering a strong, inclusive community for furries, pups, and other queer individuals across the Midwest. As a dedicated nonprofit, our mission is to support and empower the queer community by creating safe, welcoming spaces where everyone can express themselves freely.

Whether you’re a longtime furry, a pup discovering your identity, or simply looking to connect with other queer people, Anthro Midwest is here to bring people together through engaging events, meetups, and advocacy.

Who we are

Anthro Midwest is a queer nonprofit that unites people through their love of anthropomorphic art, culture, and self-expression. We provide a platform for queer individuals to feel at home in a community that celebrates diversity, creativity, and belonging.

What We Do

Anthro Midwest brings queer communities together through vibrant events, educational outreach, and community advocacy across the Midwest. From monthly furry meetups in Indianapolis to large-scale Pride parades, pup events, and inclusive nightlife programming, we create safe, joyful spaces where self-expression is celebrated.

Our events highlight the diverse voices within the furry and pup communities, elevate queer artists and performers, and provide opportunities for connection, creativity, and support. Whether you're looking for your first local fur meet, want to march with us at Pride, or are seeking resources for queer youth and allies, Anthro Midwest is here to make sure you feel safe and valued.

As a volunteer-driven nonprofit, we’re proud to foster community-building, diversity, and queer representation throughout the region. Join us in celebrating what makes our community unique — and help us shape a future where everyone belongs.

What are "furries" & "pups"?

Furries and pups are part of a vibrant, expressive subculture with deep roots in the queer community. While often misunderstood or misrepresented in mainstream media, the truth is our culture is full of creativity, joy, and connection. It’s a space where people can explore identity, build community, and celebrate what makes them unique.

Our culture is still widely underrepresented, and now more than ever, we deserve to be seen, understood, and celebrated.
